About Diego
I am an adventurer at heart – a lover of freedom, nature, and the open road. I started traveling with friends in my early 20’s, but my wanderlust really kicked in a few years later when I landed a job covering Latin America that took me to places like Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Not long after that, I left corporate America to backpack Europe with my buddy, Mikey, for nearly 7 months. We explored most of Western Europe from London to Turkey, as well as Eastern Europe including most of the ex-Soviet block on up to to Russia and Finland. Traveling takes me out of my comfort zone, awakens dormant parts of me, and helps me grow. Seeing the world exposes me to so many different lifestyles and cultures. It has opened my mind to different people and different ways of life, and it reminds me that my opinion and perspective is just one of many.
Photography is my main creative outlet, but most of my stick time has been spent capturing music and sporting events. Being on the road helps me slow down and appreciate the beauty around me, which I don’t normally do in life. I’m looking forward to trying my hand at travel photography, and I’m planning to do a project to capture images of people from around the world and their way of life.
I like to have a direction when I travel, but the details need to be flexible. Being on an organized scheduled tour bus surrounded by people who are just like me is my own personal travel hell. I like getting lost in the streets of a place and finding hole-in-the-wall spots to sample the local cuisine. I can’t wait to adventure with my wife – to experience new parts of the world, make new friends, create new stories, and capture as much as I can with my trusty Cannon.
Diego was born in Argentina. He moved to the United States with his family when he was a teenager. He’s equal parts techie and jock, but he loves babies, puppies, and kittens too. *Awwww* Diego is braver than I am when we travel – he isn’t afraid to drive in foreign countries, for example, which I would not do without him. He enjoys the thrill of getting into places that he’s not supposed to be in and those who know him best would say that he is luckier than most. He’s a fun-loving guy who is generally up for anything and he’s a wonderful storyteller too. We’re more different than we are similar, but we share a love for Jesus, adventure, and for each other.- Danyelle
